We spent a day exploring Provence (said provonce) and what a contrast to Nice. We drove through a few villages in the mountains behind Nice including St Paul d Vance, the Cascades du Saut du Loup, Gourdon, Grasse (home of parfumes) and we lunched in Tourrettes sur Loup. img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5117482994299748514" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLWSz51Wrzch6ERLnogcZTEvCoJ506p1x8naOMZCLuigc1n5tGQfe4fgYnjX2P76FG7bXJBqR6lKn9D1bp637RKcG3zd0FNANUj1Uu1Ynm2A2H0-avi_5oIAQnCe8Ssmu12tQFcwJrb_A/s400/Parfumery+Moulinard+in+Grasse.JPG" border="0" />
We weren't allowed to take photographs inside so this is it, our parfum factory tour!

There is some information at http://co.essortment.com/perfumefrench_rlot.htm - be aware most of the links here are ads.
We followed a tour group through the factory and saw how the oils are extracted from rose petals, etc. The tour was in French, but they did provide notes in English so we could read along. What I liked best was the collection of bottles.
In true Australian Kath & Kim fashion, I tried the eu d'toilette on before reading the sign saying air freshener. I have a renewed appreciation of Le Reve and other companies who sell parfum in Australia at reasonable prices as opposed the usual stuff we purchase at Myer, which in France, is free in the public toilet of a service station!
