Pisa, Tuscany, Italy - 20 September 2007

The city of Pisa

We were just walking around a corner and there was our first glimpse of the leaning tower...

Not as big as I had imagined, and in a courtyard with other buildings!

The massive door in the building opposite...
This picture is just for Fletcher...

And then we started climbing it... (If you are ever visiting Pisa, get your ticket to climb it first, then look around and have lunch, the wait can be hours).
And from the top...

I was very pleased to be back at the bottom. There is a spiral staircase (my favourite) which wraps around the inside of leaning tower. Because of the lean, sometimes you are going up the stairs, sometimes down, sometimes leaning to the left and sometimes to the right. Next to the stairs at Notre Dame, these were my absolute least favourite!
