The French Foreign Legion

This is a moment that Belinda and I will remember fondly – walking into the service station to find it filled with young, fit, good looking soldiers. I can honestly say I don’t think I have ever felt that safe! There is nothing more I can really say – only to leave it to your imaginations but we both had the urge to pull out our cameras (we really should have).
Belinda was on the phone to her husband, telling him she was surrounded by French soldiers when she was told that they were "Foreign Legion" LOL we really didn’t know the difference but were suitably impressed none-the-less!
They were obviously on a snack break as they were collecting food and lollies like kids on a school excursion.
As soon as we got back to the car I got Adam to call and asked him what the difference was between the French Foreign Legion and the army. The foreign legion are basically mercenaries – only the officers are French, everyone else has to be from another nationality (isn’t the legend that people who want to disappear join the Foreign Legion?). We weren’t sure if we should have been scared or even more impressed but when we passed them up the road, we decided to pull out the camera!

We had another pit stop later, and ended up passing the trucks again…
For 2 girls with husbands on the other side of the world this was definitely an exciting and memorable day!
