Saint Malo - 9 September 2007

Saint Malo is a walled city on the French coast but about an hours drive west of Mont Saint Michel and definitely worth a stop. The city has had a violent history, being largely destroyed 2-3 times during its 1500 year history - the last time in 1944 (the allies heavily bombed the city during the German occupation). But as you can see from the pictures, it has been rebuilt. There are 3-4 forts on the little islands off the cost. Saint Malo seems to be a slightly bigger island; it is difficult to tell if the land bridge is artificial or natural.
